AFTER THE FIRST RUNTHROUGH: MEGAN SLABACH

We had the privilege of seeing OCG on its feet for the first time on Wednesday night and the experience stirred up some emotion that I hadn't completely prepared for when I walked in the door.

The first reason for that was because of the wildly talented cast. It is not an exaggeration to say that I was captivated and was brought to tears in the show's rawest and least polished state, so I can only be excited by what is to come in these next couple of weeks. Seeing the cast work and knowing how the environmental sounds and music will only heighten the feeling of immersion makes all the effort worth it, and I couldn't be more intrigued by the evolution of designers and cast's efforts finally coming together.

I have also come to learn that when you sit with a show for 10 months you will find yourself making directorial decisions subconsciously like you do for most novels, so you have to be prepared to adjust and realign; this is what I found myself doing Wednesday night. There were daunting and rousing feelings about reconsidering my take on the show, but today I find myself eager and resolute and somehow comfortable with the experimentation.
